Dear Fellow HH Club Members,
My name is Carolina Gomez-Simmons and I just wanted to inform you all that
my father Van Simmons is terminally ill with lung cancer and has very little
time remaining with us. This is why he has not been e-mailing you all.
I ask for you to please pray for him and to please continue this club and
historical research. I also ask you all to strive to make a memorial to
Howard Hughes which was my dad's principle goal besides publishing his book.
If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.
Daddy got the ball rolling, now its up to us to finish it!

I also decided to write to Carolina via email and I was shocked to read her email
that informed me that Van passed away on April 15th.
My deepest sympathy, my condolences and my prayers are with the Simmons' family.
Although I know Van as online friend and never met him in person, I am truly blessed to have known Van.
In the short time that I have communicate with Van, I knew that he enriched those people around him.
Van loved to share his vast knowledge of history; as well as his passion of his research subject.
Van devoted much of his life to the research work and the writing the biography of "Howard Hughes".
I know from that Van was a special person who lived his life to the fullest. He showed his love and his strong
commitment to his family, his country and his fellowmen. He had a sense of pride in being the
best and doing his best in everything.
Dear Van, we will miss you, and you will always be, forever in our hearts.
We love you too.
May your beautiful soul rest in peace.
